Celebrity Beyond: Discover Our Newest Ship Celebrity Cruises

celebrity cruise line ships

Unlike Royal Caribbean, Carnival, MSC Cruises and Norwegian, Celebrity doesn't load up the top of its ships with sprawling waterparks, go-kart tracks, laser tag courses and other flashy, family-focused diversions. During the winter, the line will move most of its ships to the Caribbean, but also send a few to Asia, Australia and South America. Celebrity's Solstice Class and Millennium Class ships are even smaller at around 122,000 tons and 91,000 tons, respectively.

Marvels of cruise ship engineering, Lawn Clubs are maintained by full-time greenskeepers who oversee a complex filter and irrigation system to keep the grass looking shipshape. With Adirondack chairs, hammocks and lawn games such as bocce and croquet, these Lawn Club areas offer a quiet, park-like respite from the activity in other parts of the ships. In addition to entertainment spaces, the interiors of Celebrity ships are filled with other venues where passengers can kick back and let loose day and night, including some that are quite unusual.

The ultimate guide to Celebrity Cruises ships and itineraries

If you specifically want to cruise on an Edge-class ship and you have your pick between these three, go with one of the two newer options. The top rooms on board are two penthouse suites that measure 1,300 square feet each and span the entire width of the ship. All the restaurants you'll find on Millennium Class ships are on Solstice Class ships, for instance. However, not all the eateries on Solstice Class ships can be found on Millennium Class ships. If you're a fan of Murano, you won't find it on the Millennium Class.

An introduction to Celebrity Cruises ships

Celebrity ships also offer activities for teens (ages 13-17) at dedicated Teen Clubs. Teens can hang out at the clubs with other children their own age and also take part in organized teen sports competitions, silent disco parties, culinary classes and Xbox tournaments. Among other unusual deck-top features, some of the Solstice Class ships also have a glass-making pavilion next to the Lawn Clubs that is home to glass-making classes.

Bring plenty of beachwear, a sun hat, sunglasses, coverups, water shoes if you’re visiting coral beaches, and reef-friendly sunblock. On other Caribbean cruises, you can enter with your U.S. passport book, passport card, Trusted Traveler card (Nexus, SENTRI, or FAST), or an enhanced driver’s license. If you are an American citizen traveling from the U.S. to the Bahamas or Mexico on a closed-loop cruise, starting and ending at the same U.S. port, a state-issued ID and an original U.S. birth certificate is sufficient. Every island in the Caribbean has beautiful beaches, from rocky coves to long sweeps of white sand lined with umbrellas and buzzing beach bars. Naming the Caribbean's best beaches is a purely subjective topic, as everybody has their favorite.

They also have the biggest casinos and spas among ships in the Celebrity cruise fleet and the most cabins and suites — as well as the most variation in cabin and suite types. It offers a new two-story sun deck with hot tubs, lounge chairs and private cabanas that are open exclusively to passengers staying in suites. Meanwhile, slightly older sister ship Celebrity Beyond was the first to introduce an expanded "resort-within-a-resort" area for suite passengers called The Retreat. The second Edge-class ship, Celebrity Apex, made its grand debut in 2020.

Lastly, the oldest ship in Celebrity Cruises’ fleet is Celebrity Millennium. The ship to launch Celebrity’s modern era, it’s one of the handful to be completely revolutionized via the Celebrity Revolution $500 million initiative, undergoing changes in 2019. However, much of the cruising industry was put on hold during the pandemic.

MSC Magnifica Deck by Deck Guide

Top decks of Celebrity ships have lots of pools, lounge areas and — on some ships — park-like retreats with real grass. Unlike some big-ship lines, Celebrity isn't topping its vessels with waterslides, go-kart tracks, ropes courses and other family-focused attractions. Operating relatively big but not giant vessels, the Miami-based brand is known for some of the most stylish and cutting-edge ships in the cruise business. It's a line that is all about high-end design, innovative features (just wait until you read about the "magic carpet") and on-trend restaurants that are aimed at sophisticates, not a party crowd.

The line's three Galápagos-based vessels are downright tiny, as they have to be to operate in the Galápagos. The government of Ecuador, which controls the archipelago, does not allow cruise vessels that carry more than 100 passengers to operate in the destination. Although Celebrity Beyond is barely more than a year old, it'll soon be supplanted as the newest Celebrity Cruises vessel by Celebrity Ascent — a very similar vessel in the same Edge-class series of ships as Celebrity Beyond. You can now cruise the Caribbean year round on one of our newest Edge series ships, Celebrity Beyond, starting in 2024. The Caribbean is a cruiser’s dream vacation in every season, but the best time to cruise the Caribbean can depend on your schedule, your travel budget and your travel desires. Curated sailings range from fun-filled 3-night weekend getaways to 12-night journeys where you’ll relish in an in-depth Caribbean escape.

Our world-class dining experience brings the flavors and food of our destinations right onto your plate. Savor delicious cuisine at our main restaurants, where menus are updated daily with global dishes and tried-and-true favorites. Plan a special evening at a specialty restaurant, like Fine Cut Steakhouse, Tuscan Grille, and Le Petit Chef®. Foodies can try signature dishes by Daniel Boulud, our Global Culinary Brand Ambassador, at The Retreat’s private restaurant, Luminae, or enjoy a five-course meal at the Chef’s Table by Daniel Boulud. This 22-year-old Celebrity ship offers a more refined, subdued atmosphere compared to the line’s newer ships, which boast flashier features like the Magic Carpet. The Rooftop Terrace area serves as a restaurant, bar, and outdoor movie theater, complete with cozy furnishings coupled with mouthwatering bites and sips.

The famed Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola helped create Eden's look. Billed as an industry first, the new glass-walled cabins were made possible by a rethinking of the way the load-bearing walls of cruise ships are constructed. Celebrity ships offer a wide range of cabin categories at a variety of price points. You'll find everything from relatively low-cost, windowless "inside" cabins measuring just 181 square feet (perfect for vacationers on a tight budget) to massive, multi-room suites that are 10 times that size (and priced to match). In all, Celebrity's 15 vessels have 26,733 berths, when counting just the two main berths in every cabin (excluding extra pull-down bunks and pull-out sofas).

We make sure cruisers are fully prepared for their cruise vacation with tips on ships and ports.Millions of travelers rely on Cruise Hive in the United States, Europe, Australia, and around the world. The second Millennium-class ship, Celebrity Infinity was most recently refurbished in 2015. However, just because this ship is a bit on the older side, even when you take in that last refurbishment, that doesn’t mean that you won’t still find Celebrity favorites once you’re on board. For example, there’s still the AquaClass experience, if you’d prefer to stay in a stateroom or suite with spa-focused amenities. Not only are Celebrity’s newest ships bigger, but they’re also better. Newer ships are decked out with more and more restaurants, entertainment options and even stateroom and suite options.

If so, you'll want to get on one of the biggest Celebrity Cruises ships. Whether you’re a stalwart Celebrity Cruises fan or you’re just intrigued by the brand and are considering booking your next cruise with Celebrity for the first time, you have plenty of ship options. Unfortunately, while Celebrity’s Revolution initiative did impact a large number of the cruise line’s ships, it hasn’t impacted Celebrity Solstice just yet.

All three of Celebrity's Galápagos vessels are expedition vessels that carry landing craft for exploring in remote areas and sail with knowledgeable guides who are all Galápagos National Park-certified naturalists. While each one of the vessels is a bit different, they can logically be grouped together, as they offer a similar type of cruise experience — one custom-designed for the islands where they sail. Other places to dine on the vessels include Le Petit Chef, which offers an augmented reality dining experience using tabletop projections, and the Lawn Club Grill, part of the Lawn Club. Carrying about 2,000 to 3,000 passengers apiece, Celebrity's 13 main vessels are large but not giant by today's standards. At around 91,000 to 141,000 tons, they're nowhere near as big as the giant ships operated by Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line.

Because of this, you won’t see certain, newer features or design elements on this ship. As you could probably guess, Celebrity Solstice kicked off Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice class. This ship was not only the largest to be built at a German shipyard when it launched in 2008. It also introduced industry-first features to the cruising industry and Celebrity Cruises in general. When it comes to Celebrity Flora, this ship was designed particularly to cater to travelers taking adventurous trips to the Galapagos Islands. However, while Celebrity Apex did provide new temptations for cruisers, it’s still smaller and less impressive than Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Ascent.

The two newest vessels also include a greatly expanded Sunset Bar at the back of the vessel with a Morocco-inspired design imagined by celebrity interior designer Nate Berkus and a new restaurant created by star chef Daniel Boulud. Of the seven big cruise lines that account for the majority of cruises taken by North Americans, Celebrity Cruises has one of the simplest fleets. Currently in the midst of rolling out, it'll be made up of at least five vessels.
